Ylfa Stjörnvarðr

Submitted character story

Defining moment:
The old building in front of them had seen better days. Rot and decay had eaten away at it, leaving it standing, but only just. Inside, the air was thick with a smell both sweet and nauseating. It wasn't rot, but something else—something Ylfa had no word to describe. Beyond the threshold came the occasional sound of scratching, like fingernails weakly dragging across the floor.

Everything in her told her to go inside, find the source, and get them out. But the voice of her superior telling her to hold pulled tight like a leash.

Then a few weak words rang out.

It was her. The friend who had gone missing.

Ylfa looked to her superior. Without a word, they were both moving with firm intent. She followed the sound she had listened to for minutes that had felt like hours until, around the corner, she found her—barely conscious and injured in the miasma.

She felt impossibly light in Ylfa's arms as Ylfa pulled her close and rushed for the door. Outside, tasting air that no longer carried that sickly sweetness, Ylfa fell to her knees and pressed her forehead against her dear friend's, overwhelmed simply to have found her alive.

Archetype: You're the The Watchful Sentinel. She carries her strength like a lantern, knowing exactly who needs its light.

Personality: Warm, watchful, and fiercely protective. Despite her imposing presence, Ylfa is compassionate and deeply relational, preferring to use her strength to protect rather than intimidate. She carries considerable pain and self-doubt beneath that confidence, particularly about what her own power might make her capable of.
