Tiefling / Ranger

Submitted character story
You are the ranger who strips power from those who've never earned it, one stolen ledger and burnt safehouse at a time. Riding in on Old Yost's cart and dismantling the Iron Matron with quiet strategy proved what you already knew: institutions crumble faster than individuals when you know where to cut. What pulled you back wasn't hope for justice but the cold certainty that revenge on errand boys means nothing when the masters stay comfortable. The table will never see how lonely it gets, watching everyone else believe in codes and oaths while you know the only law that matters is the one you enforce yourself. They'll remember you as the player who turned infiltration into art and made every heist feel like dismantling a kingdom brick by brick.
Defining moment: Tranquility doesn’t believe in justice. Not the kind that files reports and stamps execution orders. That version of justice ignored her parents’ downfall, looked the other way, and let powerful names walk away clean. She stopped waiting for anyone else to set things right.
At first, revenge was her compass. Find the killers, make them pay. But the deeper she dug, the more she realized they weren’t masterminds – they were errand boys. Small pieces in a bigger game. Each lead dissolved into smoke, until the pattern became clear: her family’s ruin wasn’t one man’s sin, it was the rot of the system itself.
So her focus shifted. She doesn’t aim for individuals anymore, she aims for institutions. If she can unravel a power play, crash a masquerade with stolen documents, or burn ledgers that keep the powerful comfortable, she will. She’s not trying to build a better world. She’s trying to break the current one.
The Hollow House mostly used her as a blade and a thief: retrieval, sabotage, assassination. Not the one you sent to get information from a person. But her past keeps pulling her toward answers, and that means learning to do more than stalk shadows. If she wants the truth, she has to drag it out of the living as well as the dead.
Tranquility is hard to read and harder to predict. Her sense of what’s “normal” in a conversation is questionable at best. She’s blunt, strange, and occasionally unnerving, but always observant. When she speaks, it’s usually short, fast, and straight to the point… unless she’s saying something weirdly specific about cheese or the best pressure points to silently take out a guard. She doesn’t understand most social conventions and doesn’t particularly care to. She doesn’t lie to be polite, she doesn’t fake smiles, and she never tries to be funny, but somehow, she still is sometimes. Her confidence is unsettling, especially when it's over something as minor as stealing a pie or unlocking a door she shouldn't even know about. She doesn’t trust systems, many plans, or most people in charge; but give her a problem to break into, break out of, or dismantle, and she lights up like a Neverwinter festival lantern. The only code she keeps is that of her own or the Hollow House's.
