You are the wizard who knows that survival is not the same thing as victory. You took the King's Road because the fastest route always demands a toll you can't afford to pay twice. The demon left you alive, and that burning scar is the proof that some debts never close. You carry the weight of a memory you can't reach, and it makes you slower to act than your spellbook says you should be. They will remember you as the one who calculated the cost before the rest of the party even saw the danger.

Defining moment: The Magpie has no memory of how he got his horrific scar, but it always burns. Dim memory of some horrors, of a demon trying to kill him.
