Sir Raul de Morien

Submitted character story

Brokk carries an axe in one hand and a hammer in the other because he couldn't decide which was better for killing the thing he's tracking and figured why choose. He's been tracking it for longer than anyone in the party has been alive. He won't say what it is. He just calls it 'the debt.'

Gloomstalker means he disappears in the dark. Completely. A stocky bearded dwarf in a horned helmet and green tartan who can vanish the second the torchlight fades. Our party learned this the hard way during a night ambush when everyone was looking for Brokk and he was already behind the enemy finishing the fight before anyone drew a weapon.

The runes on his shoulder aren't decorative. Each one is a grudge. Dwarves don't forget and Brokk writes it down on his skin so he doesn't even have to remember. He just looks. The party asked him once how many grudges he was carrying and he said 'fewer than yesterday' and went back to sharpening his axe.

He's the quietest member of the group. Gunnar yells. Raul speaks formally. Hamhunch never stops talking. Brokk just walks at the back of the marching order, watches the treeline, and occasionally says something so blunt the whole table needs a minute to recover. Best thing he ever said was when our bard asked if he'd ever been in love and Brokk just looked at him and said 'aye. She's dead. Next question.' Session moved on real quick after that.
