Saryse Proudsong

Halfling / Barbarian

Submitted character story

I've always liked characters who subvert expectations a little with their physicality; a gnome with the strength of a titan, or a goliath with a quiet voice and keen intellect.

I finally had the opportunity to try out such a character with Saryse Proudsong: halfling barbarian. Saryse grew up in a farming community which served the state in a militaristic nation. Having no desire to follow in her family's footsteps, she knew her raw combat talent would mean certain conscription into the country's armed forces, so she stowed away on a cargo ship and began a free life across the seas.
Soon, she met a tall, well-read, orcish wizard by the name of Segrid, and the two became a powerful adventuring duo, and inseparable best friends.
50 years later, while Segrid is feeling the effects of old age, Saryse is still possessed by the exuberance of youth, yet the two remain together. Always ready to face danger head-on, and always seemingly caught up in unfortunate fires of every tavern they stay at.
