Defining moment:
They were trying to make a go of it - two street kids turned criminal, they tried their best to live an honest life. But when Blythe got sick, what could they do? Their meager wages weren't enough to get the sort of healing she needed at any temple in town. And Sapphica tried all of them.

That's what a life on the straight and narrow, a life without risk, gets you. When death comes knocking, all you can do is beg - and mercy is in short supply in this world, especially when you look poor. Sapphica might have slid into despair then. She nearly died, the risks she took. But then Klaus, an old spy, decided that she had real talent. And he asked her if she wanted to spend her life getting *really* good at something instead of dying an amateur. She said yes. But maybe that's growing thin now.
