Shifter / Monk

Sable Winspear

Submitted character story

You are the strategist who survived by learning when stillness cuts deeper than claws, even through the Blackfen. The fire and the smirking stranger taught you that control is the only armor that cannot be stripped away. But discipline built on terror is a cage you wear so well that freedom would feel like falling. Your table will remember the monk who never flinched, never explained, and never once let them see you run.

Defining moment: Fire everywhere. People running for their lives. Blood curdling screams.

The village is under attack. Visitors turned on us. Demanding things we knew nothing about. They want no one left alive. That man was chasing us.

Father was the first to fall. He had told mother and I to run and in the crowd he disappeared. I never saw him again.

The man caught up with us and my mother put herself between me and the stranger. Run she said. I didn't want to leave her but did what I was told.

The fire was distant and the screams grew quieter as the minutes passed. The cool air of the Towering Wood kissed my face as tears streamed down. Everything I have ever known is gone.

Suddenly, I was knocked off of my feet. I met the ground with a hard this. Looking up I see the same stranger. Covered in blood and holding a dark sword. I stared into his eyes, unable to look away I was so terrified. This is it. This is the end.

The stranger smirked at me, raised his blade and flicked the fresh blood off of it. Then he walked away, disappearing into the darkness
