"story": "CHARACTER BACKSTORY:\n\nI was born on the 12th of Felrose, the only child of Carlin Tamble-Aêstra (Rock Gnome, male) and Keya Aêstra (Half-Wood Elf, Half-Lightfoot Halfling, female). I was an adventurous kid, always sneaking away from the house to explore the woods, the town, the mountains- really anywhere my feet would take me. My mother wholeheartedly supported my lust for the world, my father didn’t quite understand it. He spent his days in a routine, though I’m not sure he was aware of it most days: he never dabbled in tinkering like his brothers, but the man sure lived like clockwork. Even if it didn’t bore me to tears, I couldn’t imagine living that way- to never want for anything outside your own little reality always seemed so… alien to me. Just like the maps my mother showed me growing up of all the places she’d been, I hoped to cover my own map of the world in vast trails and lazy loops around the most wondrous parts. \n\nMy dad always told me my curiosity would get me in trouble one day.\nAnd that day found me the day I took that job- well, the week I took that job- it took me ages to figure out that stupid maze of a cave. I was starting to think I would never see anything but stone again and then I rounded a corner and caught a glimpse of something gleaming in the rockface. I thought it was something stuck there, but that glimmer soon turned into walls made of strange metals, huge stretches of bronze and silver and gold, or was it?- ancient looking halls and small, cramped rooms with carved, polished stone floors. \n\nFollow the path. \nEverything about the place looked ancient, but untouched, mechanical, yet clinical; I had never seen anything like it. I had to find it. I wandered on and found a large hall, half of it completely preserved, the other caved in almost perfectly splitting the room in two. \n\nFfffind it. \nWhen I touched the floor in that central chamber, it was like my feet started moving on their own- I don’t even remember searching for it, just gliding towards the back left of the room, where against the wall was a strange metallic creature. It was broken, its pieces as far as ten feet away, almost as though it had imploded, or been thrown against the wall. I was drawn to all the pieces, assembling them out on the ground as if I knew the creature’s structure. \n\nFix it. \nI had to fix it. It was less like a dream, and more of a memory, and I just knew I had to put it back together. \n\nYou have to put it back ttttogether. \nDid I actually lay the piece out on the ground, or did I just imagine I did? Like when I was a kid and puzzles would kind of float in front of my eyes, flicking into place so I could see it done before I moved the pieces with my hands. Wait, did I do that?\n\nYou did. \nI must’ve. I had to- I would’ve. I did. I did. I did. I found it. I put it together. Don’t let it ssssslip away. The threads. I followed the threads. I moved the pieces. It’s together. I had to. I did. \n\nI need to know. I need to find them. I have to. You have to. I have to find it. \n\nFfffind it. \n\nx\n\n\nCHARACTER APPEARANCE:\n\nRen Aêstra is a petite woman with flowing pink hair and an assortment of golden jewelry. She looks to be of mostly Elvish descent (Wood Elf) with her long, pointed ears and tanned, almost shimmering complexion, but her size gives away her shorter ancestry. Her build is that of a very tall Lightfoot Halfling, though certain features like her button nose and small, lithe fingers -that often find themselves absentmindedly tinkering- suggests a Gnomish lineage as well. \n\nShe has a glowing teal tattoo of an eye on her left shoulder and she wears a loose, fleece-lined jumpsuit in neutral tones and a pair of dark brown leather boots that look pretty worn. Ren carries a notebook with her that she is constantly jotting things down in, it too looks like it’s seen better days, the cover loose from the rest of the book, some papers look haphazardly shoved back into place. She has a few crossbody packs slung across her shoulders, a small backpack for her bedroll, and a magnifying glass pendant draped across her chest on a slinky gold chain.\n\nRen is friendly, and loves to talk to new people about where they are from and the places they’ve seen. She can sometimes be heard mumbling to herself though, and spends most of her free time tinkering around with broken metallic creatures and devices she carries around with her in one of her packs.\n\n\nPATRON - IST'RALETH, THE OBSESSION:\n\nAn ancient, possibly pre-confluence, aberrational entity unleashed through an investigation of a labyrinth of caves in the foothills of Huxson. Having only recently been uncovered, nothing is publicly known about The Obsession.\n\nThe Obsession craves only knowledge and looks to quell this thirst through it's Seekers- the curious and the inquisitive- who find themselves unlucky enough to befall its fixations.\n\nThe Obsession infects its Seekers, whose minds then slowly unravel as they learn more and more, uncovering truths no mortals were meant to know. Some Seekers may also inherit a stutter from this aberration, as their tongues are no longer able to keep up with their racing, tortured minds."
