Astral Elf / Warlock

Ra'el

Submitted character story

You are the Shadow Investigator in every sense, moving through the world with the quiet precision of someone who already paid the price. The woman in white gave you a path back when everything burned, and you carry that moment like a second heartbeat. But Eden's gift sits behind an eyepatch for a reason, and the sword that hums with her rhythm reminds you that salvation always costs more than it promises. Your table will remember the warlock who never forgot the face of the one who saved him first.

Defining moment: As a boy, when his home was burning, a mysterious person he can't remember clearly saved him. He has no idea if that person lived or died, but he knows he would like to thank them regardless. The next few days afterward are a blur, leaving his now uninhabitable home, becoming a refugee with his Aunt and the blacksmith next door, his parents' best friend. His clearest memories start directly before the encounter that makes him who he is. He was getting ready to grab his dinner, and his eye sight goes sideways. Next thing he knows he's pinned to the floor by some unknown force. He blacks out and finds himself in a field of white, the only thing he sees in the vast nothingness is a radiant young woman. She's wearing an ankle-length white flowy dress, her hair is platinum blonde and wavy, her eyes glow a deep blue, and she emits an aura of ultraviolet light. Looking at her is difficult. She speaks to him, but words are not heard, yet he understands her name is Eden and she will help him restore his home. He wakes up and his right eye burns with a frenzy he's never felt. The blacksmith forges a specialized eye patch to keep the eye at bay.
