Quetzoatl

Yuan-Ti / Warlock

Submitted character story

You are a Shadow Investigator because the truth you uncovered demanded secrecy, not spectacle. The night you accepted Demdar's pact, you traded your path to the light for a burden no cleric could carry. Every nightmare you surrender keeps the devourer sated, and every dawn you wake reminds you what you no longer deserve. Your table will remember the warlock who chose damnation with open eyes and never asked for pity.

Defining moment: I'm his village, Quetzoatl had been studying the histories of their beliefs and was on track to become a cleric of Qotal. Until the day he stumbled across passages referring to Demdar, the Night Serpent. A being held in eternal slumber in Shar's realm that feeds on the nightmares of mortal souls to keep her entrapped. He discovered a history of cults working to free this monster, and began having nightmares of the beast visiting him demanding he help sate her endless hunger. After several nights he accepted the dark deal, if only to provide enough for the Night Serpent to prevent it's ascension to the mortal realms to devour the sun. He accepted a pact providing him access to a small portion of her powers, and vanished himself from his home to dedicate what his life would be to ensuring the devourer of nightmares remained dated in eternal slumber, giving his own sense of peace in an attempt to bring a more lasting peace for the world he was raised in.
