Tiefling / Bard

Pip the Quipper

Submitted character story

You are the hero who turned abandonment into ambition, who made waiting into wanting, who weaponized the spotlight because invisibility almost killed you. The Blackfen and the Silver Tongue were natural choices for someone who knows the soft ground hides teeth and the right words keep you fed. What brought you back was the memory of empty cups finally filled, the moment someone saw the starving child and refused to let her keep pretending everything was fine. But you still play tea with ghosts sometimes, still hear your family's promise in every silence, still need the crowd's roar to drown out the sound of not being chosen. Your table will remember the bard who could charm anyone but never learned to sit still in the quiet.

Defining moment: A small blue teifling with nubs on her head for horns, named Piper sits in an abandoned house playing tea when a troupe of magical people pass by coming to rest for the night. She hands them all empty cups and they play pretend tea. The house is old and grand, with fraying tapestries and the little girl, Piper, is wearing a burnt dress, her eyes hollow and her body emaciated she still plays pretend. The leader of the troupe a tall dark dryad with burnt like bark. Starts to fill the cups with real tea and the plates with real food. When the dryad lady offers her the food and says let’s go find your family. Piper says, “They told me to wait here until they come back. They took everything to a safe place then they’ll get me. They’ll come back. I just got to wait for them a little longer.”

She is competitive and ambitious. A nimble athlete slaving over entertainment and used to the spotlight always yearning to be the leader.
