Submitted character story

Persephone is the oldest of three daughters who ran away from home to escape an arraigned marriage. She found refuge with the crew of the Breaholland, a merchant ship plying the ocean trade routes. She learned of Tyche the Goddess of Fortune from the ships cook and decided to leave her adopted family to enter the life of a servant of Tyche. She showed a aptitude for the training and her connection to the Goddess was strong.
She intervened when a radical priest wanted to burn several women who had been accused of showing a connection to the Fey. It was there she met what would be her travelling companions who have endured with her through her various adventures.
She had a crisis of faith when it was discovered that her prayers to Tyche were actually going to another Deity, Meitana, The Drowned God. This seeming betrayal had her questioning her devotions, but after a sabbatical spent in prayer and meditations, she discovered that Meitana found her worthy of her devotions and granted her the ability to predict fate once or twice a day.
After various intercessions with a rival deity 'Poppy', was forced into proving her faith. Meitana, so moved by the steadfastness of her devotions, blessed Poppy elevating her to Avatar status. In this form she was successful in banishing the rival deity and restoring a balance of power. In her gratitude, Meitana bestowed 'Poppy' with a holy weapon, a mace of great power named Requite along with several boons and favors.
In response to her prayers, Meitana granted 'Poppy' information regarding the fate of her family. Her father had been found hidden in a large merchant city. He was living in squalor addicted to a substance usually used in the darkest sections of the city. While seeing her father in such was shocking, she discovered that he had sold his wife and daughters for more of the substance, 'Poppy' used her skill to purge her father's body of the toxin that had overtaken him.
She made a vow to find and restore her family.
