Defining moment:
Nyx remembers her mother before she was taken from her by a cult. She remembers how her mother would bring her out into the woods at night to have midnight tea parties with her father. Then, the memory flashes forward to the night the cult came for Nyx, but her mother managed to save her by sending her to her father's mansion at the last moment. She clearly hears her mother tell her, "My love, you must never let them get you. You are stronger and have more power than you know." She then handed me her magical dagger and shoved me through a portal that led to my father's mansion & I never saw her again.
