"story": "The Reforged Fury - She became the monster once, then chose to be the shield instead. \"You are a protector born from the Blackfen, where patience and survival taught you to wait before you strike. What brought you back was not the rage that freed you, but the fear in eyes you loved. You carry the weight of knowing exactly what you're capable of when the chains break. They'll remember you as the one who died for them and came back gentler than before.\"\n\nNyx has no memory of her parents, she only remembers the wilderness. When she was 10 years old, she was enslaved as a circus freak. Forced to display her affinity for wild-shaping to the fools of common folk. One day, her friend of the circus (who gave her the name \"Nyx\"), was being severely abused by the circus master. This was his way with all the circus freaks, but this time more relentless and cruel. Something inside of Nyx snapped: she entered her true shifter state for the first time. She became a were-leopard with long fangs. Briefly free from her chains, she attacked the circus master. He ran towards the audience as she tore off his abusing arms and ripped open his beer-coated throat with her fangs. Blinded by rage, anyone who stopped her met a timely end. She returned to her normal self after seeing the fear in her friend's eyes. Ashamed of her actions, she ran away from the destroyed circus. \n\nYears later, she found herself in the shadows of a coastal metropolis. She read a calling for anyone seeking the power of a Wish spell to aid a sorcerer in his search for a Fallen Star. Perhaps she could get a second chance at life with it. Time spent on this quest proved fruitful for her mental health. She bonded strongly with the outcasts: an aasimar on a quest for vengeance, a vampire delaying the inevitable, a quirky bard with no self-preservation, and a cleric afraid of violence and adventure. Nyx risked her life, and suffered a brief death, to protect these people. She came back, which indeed gave her a new shot, and second chance at life. Without Wishing herself away.\n\n\"My mother was a Rashemen witch; the Wychlaran matriarch who beckoned Nature itself to protect her clan. My father is the son of the Goddess Liira; an undefeatable Guardian Angel for the humble folk who strikes down their enemies. My brother was an immortal dhampir, monk of the Long Death; he swiftly eliminated his prey to avenge his stolen Mercy. My first love was a recluse assassin sent to capture and kill me. Somehow, he saw beauty in my deadliness. We were so imperfect for each other that cursed magic declared us a fantasy. My first enemy enslaved exotic beasts and manipulated devils just to feed his never ending greed. I was the first thing he declared his fear to, before I silenced his screams with my teeth. All of these extraordinary people have surrendered their power… to create me. And I never harnessed the cosmos or any fallen star to make this happen. Is that why you hunt for miracles? Like this Living Star? Because no one chose you over their power? Are you unloved, unchosen, abandoned by the universe you serve? No matter how you look at it, I was chosen. We were chosen by the Living Star. And you cannot stand that, can you? I may or may not live after this. But unlike me, you are unnamed and abandoned by the cosmos. You will not live after this.\""
