Naivara

Submitted character story

Defining moment:
Fighting a friendly tournament with her party members in the Lizardfolk stadium, naively thinking everyone was pulling their punches to entertain the crowd. Her faerie dragon companion, Firnen, fights alongside her. After nearly falling to a crossbow bolt, Firnen tries to make his way back to Naivara… only to get caught in a comrade’s Moonbeam, the normally-radiant spell laced with necrotic damage from the cursed artifact the comrade carries. His body blackens, then she watches helplessly as the shape of his soul is absorbed into Requiem, the cursed spear. In that moment, nothing else matters to her. Firnen had been her companion since he hatched, when she herself was only six years old. The support in her ear, the familiar weight draped across her shoulders that had accompanied her for over 80 years… gone. Just like that. And not even at the hands of a foe; a tragedy of careless friendly-fire. She refuses to participate in the tournament any longer, comrades be damned. While they continue to fight for their own lives, she stalks her way toward the gate from which she entered the arena. A guard tries to stop her, insisting she must continue fighting. Without a word, she uses Water Whip to grab the guard by the ankle, and yank him out of her way. Before the water whip dissipates, she grabs the key from his belt, and sees herself out. Her trust in her comrades has been irreparably damaged, and she is prepared to bargain with any deity that will listen to get Firnen back.
