    "story": "CHARACTER BACKSTORY:\n\nMoriko grew up in a large city with her parents and siblings in her family’s alchemist shop called ‘Thistle Do Nicely’. She is a very curious person, which can get her into trouble on occasion, but this curiosity was encouraged in their home; her mother Kana and father Asa are distinguished alchemists and herbalists, often doing their own research to better their own recipes. Her recklessness she certainly inherited from her mother and has definitely found herself the cause of various failed experiments and explosions through the years. Mori also shares the love of pranks with her elder twin brothers Haru and Ren, who largely have taken over running the shop-front for the family as they are far better salesmen than their parents and have charismatic personalities. Moriko also has two younger siblings, her sister Reika, an aspiring wizard who dreams of going to a formal school to further her education, and her brother Toshiro who is most likely to follow in his parent’s footsteps.\n\nMoriko herself has been engaged in researching strange purple trees that have begun popping up around the continent, having discovered some accounts of other researchers gone missing. The missing researchers have all been a part of ARCANA, the Advanced Research Council of Arcane Naturalists and Alchemists, the same guild her parents belong to. Some notes seem to suggest that something about the trees make people forget things, though it is not clear which parts of the trees have this effect when touched. Other notes suggest a possible tie to a blue flower that has properties that can physically restore ailments beyond what alchemists and arcane healers have been able to achieve. Between the missing researchers, mysterious trees, and promise of magic that has yet to be fully uncovered, Moriko sets off from her hometown to investigate further.\n\n\nFAMILY:\n\nParents:\nCurrent tag team duo that brew their store stock.\nBoth very bad negotiators, which is why the kids took over the books & running the shop.\nNot super strict, mostly tried to foster respect and show kids hard work begets reward.\nVery ‘you can do anything you set your mind to kids’ style of parenting.\n+ Father - Asa: easily distracted, happy-go-lucky, the researcher of the duo, homeschools Reika & Toshiro\n+ Mother - Kana: outspoken, has a lot of pride for her work/her family’s successes, calculated risk taker when experimenting, the alchemist of the duo. She also can and will outdrink Asa, Haru & Ren, much to their dismay.\n+ Twin elder brothers - Haru & Ren: charismatic lads that mostly run the shop, pranksters of the family, very social and know at least one person everywhere they go in the city, generally well liked by the city-folk. Haru takes after his father personality-wise, but is also great at making friends. Ren has a reputation for being a heartbreaker.\n+ Moriko: takes after her mother the most as far as being a risk taker, though she is much more reckless, hates alcohol, loves fruit juice, enjoys a good prank with her older brothers.\n+ Younger sister - Reika: bookkeeper for the family since her parents are bad at it.\nVery studious, always has her head in a book, dreams of going to a wizard college, not very social and much prefers to keep to herself and her pet bird.\n+ Younger brother: Toshiro: his parents are training him in alchemy as he has shown good promise (and is much more careful unlike Moriko), just as studious as Reika, though he shows a particular natural talent for alchemy and loves it.\n\nOTHER ALLIES: \n+ Friend & Magic Component Supplier - Karga:\nA half-orc woman trader who gifts Moriko scrap metal on occasion and is always down for loot/random magic items for trade/sale.\nShe is VERY flirty and will flirt/attempt to sleep with other npcs/the party if they are flirting back (she’s not settling down with anyone though and is pansexual)."
