She died giving birth to Him and his Sister, the Father's promise to his Beloved was to cherish and love them both with everything that he and his dead wife would have given them. She had come to him of another world and he had loved it. So in Reacher's youth the Father sent him to learn of where his Mother had come from so she would live in him and he could come to know something of her. As the Boy grew to a Man, he like his Father would embrace the strength of His Mother's heritage. His Father being wise would split the time Reacher spent in the Mother's world with time and experience with the Father so his growth would be a Great Strength to him when he took his Father's Place in the World.
