Defining moment:
It's a promise she's made three times over, once to her horse and twice to her little boy. A promise that she'll always be there for those she cares about, that as long as she draws breath, no harm will come to them, that she won't allow it if she can do anything to prevent it. She made that promise for the first time to her horse when she packed up whatever she could carry and left her home in the middle of the night as he was sleeping, and for the second time to her unborn baby when she learned just days later that she was expecting. And for the third time when that newborn baby was placed on her chest, and his tiny little hand wrapped around one of her fingers.
