You're the hero who walks The King's Road because justice demands method, not just fury. What brought you back wasn't hope or light, but the weight of your father's gun and the names you swore to find. The demon who answered your grief doesn't whisper comfort, only the promise that vengeance keeps its books balanced. You'll be remembered as the warlock who never forgot that some debts are paid in ash.
Defining moment: In the shadow of the Stonehill Mountains, nestled at the base, lay the village of Carran—a small, tranquil place known for its verdant fields and the close-knit community of farmers, artisans, and the guard led by Captain Theron Dreamwind. Theron's son, Lex Dreamwind, grew up amidst this peace, learning the sword from his father and the art of healing from his mother, Elara, the village's resident healer.
But peace is often a fragile veneer, shattered by the greed and violence of the outside world. On a night that began like any other, with stars twinkling innocently in the sky, disaster struck. A group of bandits, more ferocious and numerous than any tales had warned of, descended upon Carran. Their leader, a towering Tiefling with red skin and broken horns, known only as "The Beast," directed the onslaught. Buildings were set aflame, and the air filled with the cries of the villagers.
Despite their valor, the villagers were no match. Lex, only fifteen, hid upon his father's stern instruction, witnessing from the shadows the battle that ensued. Captain Theron fought with the heart of a lion, felling many bandits before their numbers proved too great. The sight of his father's fall, overwhelmed yet unyielding, would forever burn in Lex's memory.
After the raiders left, leaving silence and devastation in their wake, Lex emerged from his hiding place. He found his father, lifeless, among the ruins of their home. Clutching Theron to his chest, Lex's grief was raw and all-consuming. It was then that he felt an ominous presence, a whisper in the dark.
Guided by sorrow and a thirst for vengeance, Lex picked up his father's gun. The air shimmered, heat emanating from the weapon as a vision appeared before him—a demon, wreathed in flames, its eyes promising power and retribution. "Pledge your soul to me," it offered, "and I will grant you the strength to avenge your father, to hunt 'The Beast,' and to punish those who spread evil."
Without hesitation, driven by a pain that overshadowed fear, Lex accepted. The pact was sealed, and with it, Lex's fate. He felt a surge of power coursing through him, a connection to the infernal that would fuel his quest for justice—or vengeance.
