"story": "You are the bard who chose the Silver Tongue because you already learned words cut deeper than blades. The moment that brought you back was standing in that doorway, realizing you could finally choose someone for yourself. You still wear the Siannodel crest even though your father threw your gaze away, still proving yourself to ghosts. Every song you play on that ocarina asks the question: when does flourishing become enough?\n\nDefining moment: She tells everyone her family gave her the task of finding a husband worthy of the Siannodel name. Someone with power and status that can bring the Siannodels back into power over the Lake of Solstice. What she doesn’t tell everyone is how the one she loved came to be betrothed to her sister, her one true friend. Tearstruck, she asked how this arrangement came to be, as if everyone had been in on the plan from the start.\n\nNo one could meet her gaze. Except her father.\n\nKethriel paused, “She’s better than I am. I know. She’s always been the favorite. Shouldn’t she be the one to marry someone powerful? Someone who can help you achieve your ambitions?”\n\nHer father stood and lifted her tear-filled gaze to his. “Darling, Kethriel, my blooming flower, you are oldest. That is your duty.”\n\nKethriel kept her eyes locked on his, cold and unfeeling. “There is no one in the Thalore Woods eligible of those standards.”\n\nThere was a long pause.\n\n“You intend to exile me.”\n\n“You have not been as promising to us as Felosial has.”\n\n“Father, I can do better. I can work harder. I am worthy of your love and your care. Please, let me stay. Please choose me to marry Thalendir Celebris.”\n\nHe threw her gaze away from his. “Even now you are the same insolent girl you have always been. You could never lead a home in the wood. You are not obedient. You are not as talented as your sister. You are not as benevolent as your sister. The last thing we would need is someone like you sullying our name with your natural defiance linked to any of The Great Families.”\n\nThere was a long pause. Kethriel’s ears burned hot. She felt icy cold fingers touch her warm hand.\n\n“Keth…” her brother whispered.\n\n“Sai.” She pulled her hand back and pushed her way out of the circle, marching to her chambers.\n\n****\n\nKethriel began packing her things into her luggage, leaving behind anything with a reminder of her family on it, except for a small necklace bearing the emblem of the Siannodel crest.\n\nHer door pushed open, her younger brother peering in. The one who should have been born first.\n\n“Kethriel,” he began again. “I want you to know I stood up for you. I love you and always will. I will always be there for you. I want to come with you.”\n\n“No,” she said brushing away tears. “You need to stay here and lead our family. Dad will step down someday. You have to be ready for that.”\n\nSai whispered a prayer of traveling protection in the ancient elven tongue. “My doors are always open to you. You will find a husband who brings shame upon their close minded views.” He hugged her tight and gave her a quick peck on the cheek.\n\nShe paused. “You’re right. I dont have to choose someone they want. I can choose someone for myself.”\n\nAs she marched out the door, she remembered the strained look of worry on Sai’s face. “Always flourish, never wither,” she whispered to herself.\n\nOn this day, she made her first choice that would bring happiness to her and no one else.\n\nAlready paid the price"
