Indomitus Wands

Submitted character story

Indomitus Wants comes from a large and powerful noble family. Almost all of his relatives are wizards and most of the rest still cast spells of some kind. Indy is no exception. He is a bard, able to control the minds and senses of his audience and cast a few basic arcane spells.

In his early travels, Indy discovered a rare Lude of the Burlesque, which any bard can use to inspire a woman to dance and remove her clothing. Indy did not see this as particularly useful, but he was intrigued by the idea of magically inspiring his audience to dance. He showed the Lute of the Burlesque to his brothers and they studied the instrument together. They learned how it worked and created a new item based on the concept - the Moonwalk Mandolin.

Although the other bards at New Olamn considered this mandolin a waste of time, the Wands family have actually armed Indy with some of their most powerful work. Just by playing it, he can inspire his audience to dance, choose the dance and give a temporary skill bonus to those who decide to get up and dance. All he has to do is play a piece of music appropriate to the desired dance and concentrate on his targets.

This power works all the time and is tied to his Bard class abilities, but the mandolin has even more power.

Three times per day, Indy can choose any number of targets within his sight and inflict them with an Otto's Irresistible Dance. As with the mandolin's basic power, Indy can also choose the dance. He can make an unwilling couple do a waltz together, force an adversary to twirl around like a ballet dancer or make the entire front rank of an advancing army do an Irish line dance.

Of course, the Moonwalk Mandolin could still be used exactly like the Lute of the Burlesque, but Indy prefers to play war chants and inspire his audience to mosh.
