Defining moment:
As a young scribe he was in town with a few of the other boys. The newest of their group was from a merchant house recently betrayed and the scribes were jumped by a group of thugs from the enemy house. Almost without thinking Icard took up a broken plank and mounted an impressive defense, what had been just exercise becoming purpose. The other scribes got away and Icard gave as good as he got but was still beaten badly. It didn't matter, he would heal, and he knew that instinct to put himself between the weak and the brutal was the person he wanted to be.

Archetype: You're the The Bruised Standard. He stands where mercy meets the fist, bloodied but unbroken between them.
