Gloria retired from adventuring after the death of Talon her husband and leader of her party. She was with child and knew continuing would risk loosing the last part of Talon. She opened an Inn/tavern in the city of New Embirth. 

She raised her son Spike to have a strong sense of justice and trained him constantly so he would always be ready for anything, but this lead to Spike wanting to join the city guard. Gloria disapproved cuz that would put him in danager. 

They got in a huge fight and he left to join the guard. Months later his platoon went missing in Underheart the deep depths of the city. 

Gloria had no choice but to dust off her magic cloak and trusty bow to find her son. While getting tangled in a web of the worst of the city.  

She accidentally forms a new party with a bunch of young people, becoming their leader and unconscious mother figure and through her exploits learns how she fell short as a mother to Spike.

She leads this party to save the city and the very existence of magic itself, but when she is left with no way to save her son but to make the sacrifice any mother would. She gives her life to save Spike's. 

But Gloria is more clever than she looks cuz she was wearing a ring that would trap her soul. Now she lives as a guide for spike in the ring he wears.
