Faetris Ofandrus

Submitted character story

Faetris Ofandrus is a warrior shaped by duty, sacrifice, and the burden of inheritance. Born among the wood elves of Afveneas, he was raised beneath the protection of an ancient Mythal — a vast weave of elven magic that had safeguarded his island homeland for centuries from all who sought to harm it. Yet time eroded more than stone and memory. The knowledge required to sustain the Mythal began to fade, and with it came the slow unraveling of the security his people had always known.

Desperate to preserve their future, the elders of Afveneus accepted aid from a powerful organization that offered support at a terrible cost: one of their own would enter lifelong service in return. Faetris was chosen. What began as an act of honor became a chain around his neck, binding him to missions and obligations far removed from the peace he sought to protect.

Fate shifted when one such mission ended in disaster. Shipwrecked and abandoned to the sea, Faetris was rescued by a band of adventurers whose companionship offered him something he had not known in years — freedom. Rather than return willingly to the organization that claimed ownership over his life, he chose to travel beside them, forging bonds through hardship, battle, and discovery.

During these journeys, Faetris uncovered a long-lost tome containing the secrets needed to restore and reinforce the Mythal. At last, there was hope: a way to save Afveneus without remaining shackled to those who exploited his people’s desperation. But salvation carried its own dangers. The deeper Faetris delved into his people’s history, the more he uncovered truths buried beneath centuries of reverence.

An ancient ancestor of his bloodline emerged — a figure who claimed to seek the same goal Faetris had fought for all along: the protection of their homeland. Yet beneath noble intentions lay a catastrophic ambition, one that threatened not only Afveneus but the entire world beyond it. Forced to confront the legacy of his own lineage, Faetris stood against the very embodiment of his people’s past.

Through the strength gained from his travels, the allies he had come to trust, and his unwavering devotion to protecting others, Faetris overcame the threat and preserved both his homeland and the wider world. His story became more than one of servitude or survival. It became the tale of a guardian who broke free from inherited chains, challenged the failures of history, and chose for himself what it truly meant to protect his people.
