"story": "Elara was born into the Gilded Ledger, one of the most powerful merchant families in the city. Her father dealt in \"Soft Gold\"—silks, spices, and exotic perfumes. She was raised in a world of absolute comfort, but she found the opulence suffocating. While her father saw people as \"assets\" and \"liabilities,\" Elara was obsessed with the Foundational Truth of the body. She spent her youth stealing into her father's private library, studying anatomy texts and botanical scrolls from distant lands. She didn't want to sell spices; she wanted to know why a specific root could stop a fever or why a certain petal could dull the pain of a broken bone. When the city-wide blight struck, the Gilded Ledger shut their iron gates, letting the poor rot in the streets to \"protect the inventory.\" Elara watched from her balcony as the common folk—the same people who carried her father's crates—collapsed in the gutters. In a moment of righteousness, she realized her family’s wealth was built on the blood of the dying. She didn't argue with her father; she simply became evasive. She began \"vanishing\" from her chambers, using her refined movement to slip past the high-society guards. She traded her silk gowns for a priestess's tunic to hide her noble merchant features. She began operating in the \"Dead Wards\" of the city. She was elusive—the sick would wake up to find their wounds stitched with surgical precision or a bitter herbal tea steaming beside them, but the healer was gone before they could say thank you. She became a ghost of the alleyways, using her Monk training (refined from a high-society self-defense tutor) to move silently across rooftops, avoiding both the city guard and the desperate looters. She was helpful to the point of exhaustion, but evasive to the point of mystery. She knew that if her father found her, she would be locked away \"for her own safety,\" and the people would lose their only physician. The blight eventually grew so thick in the city that the rare medicinal roots—the \"Hearth-Salt\" and \"Sun-Stems\"—ran dry. Elara knew they only grew in the ancient, \"forbidden\" forest outside the walls. She slipped out of the city gates at midnight, a lone shadow in a world of sickness. She wasn't looking for a fight; she was looking for a cure. But the forest was not empty. Deep in the brush, she saw the glow of a small fire and a man—a \"Hidden Zealot\"—who moved with the weight of a warrior but the hands of a caretaker. She watched him from the branches for an hour, her breath held, her Way of Mercy instincts telling her that this man, Zurkaled, was the first person she had met who shared her vision of a \"Virtuous Reality\" exactly as she did. That night she helped Zurkaled, the kind hearted bartender's son gather roots in order to cure the village of the shadow-cough plague. Her father soon moved her and her family to another city in order to escape the plague and possible backlash of the peasants and common folk. She then learned that her father and his guild members engineered and orchestrated the creation and spreading of the Shadow-cough. So she decided to leave her family in order to help the sick and weak in the world when and where she could and to also rid the world of corruption, such as her father and his wicked guild. Although she longed to see Zurkaled once more, she knew that she had to help those in need before anything else."
