The blackout and the marked arms were the price for gifts you never asked for. Now you hunt with two blades and a patron's whisper, shapeshifting between what you were and what the pact demands. Seemed simple enough. Go in, secure the target, get out before getting noticed.\nBut there was this book, just... laying on a desk in the study. Something about it called out to me. So I pocketed it. \nWhen I brought it  home, I noticed the book was bound with some sort of strange leather I've never seen before. It was dark, nondescript. I opened the book, and the pages were filled with strange inscriptions, weird diagrams that seemed like nonsense.\n\n....And then I blacked out. I was out for a few days. Woke up with the worst headache, my arms looking like I was afflicted with some sort of disease... and I have powers I never could have imagined, now.\n\nCame to prove something"
