Half-Elf / Cleric

Darik

Submitted character story

You're a Bold Hero who charges toward pain because hesitation feels like the latrine accident you didn't mourn. What brought you back was the promise you kept and the blasphemy you survived in equal measure. Every spell you cast carries the weight of hands that once healed so torture could continue. Your table will remember the cleric who turned stolen sanctity into something worth believing in again.

Defining moment: Two memories actually. One quickly followed the other.

First, his parents putting him and his two sisters, Veren and Merril on a crowded Lightning Rail train heading out of Cyre as the magical explosion drew nearer. The train was too crowed for their parents to join them. They had him promise to look after his sisters until they were reunited. His parents promised they'd take the other train out which was doing in the opposite direction. He never saw them again.

The second memory, which was a recurring nightmare, was when he was assigned to an Inquisitor during the war. The Inquisitor questioned captured spies and enemy combatants. By questioning, it was really torture. Darik's job as a cleric, was to heal these people (and he still saw them as people, not enemies) enough so they could be quesstioned again. It hurt his soul every time he had to use his healing power that way. It was blasphemy. It was evil.

He did not feel sorry when the Inquisitor died in a bizaare latrine accident.
