His full name is Craegyeur von Daenavor the Fourth. Say it out loud. That's exactly the kind of name this guy's parents would give him. To literally anyone who's ever met him socially he goes by Craig. Craig the Warlock. He thinks it's funny. Most people don't immediately get the joke.
He's the noble born son of a shipping magnate family who got bored of paperwork and found a cursed sword in a cargo hold. That's basically the whole pitch. He was out on an expedition for his parents' shipping company, opened the wrong crate, and something in it chose him. The sword looks like an Italian rapier but with a thick black blade and a vein of iridescent purple running down the middle that branches into the hilt basket. It doesn't talk. It just hums sometimes. Craig pretends that's normal.
He's 28, deep red skin, two symmetrical black horns curving straight back from his forehead, medium length black hair tied in a bun, short black beard. Dresses the part of a noble who's trying to look like an adventurer and kind of failing. Chainmail under a fancy breastplate that's nicer than anything a real soldier would wear. Magic cloak with a big hood. Utility belt crossed with a bandolier full of potions and bits of arcana. He has all the gear. He has the look. He just happens to also be from money and nobody at the table lets him forget it.
The fun of playing Craig is he's an unserious man in a serious world. He casts eldritch blast with an open palm and a quip. He draws the sword and purple smoke rolls off the blade and he still introduces himself as Craig. He flirts. He haggles. He name drops his family's shipping line in every single town because he genuinely thinks it'll get him a discount. Sometimes it does.
But there's a sword on his hip that he did not choose, a pact with Mephistopheles he doesn't fully understand, and a family legacy he's supposed to inherit when he goes home. He's putting all of that off for as long as possible. Craig the Warlock is easier than Craegyeur von Daenavor the Fourth. For now.
