Elf / Ranger

Submitted character story
Corentin was found amongst the Silverbark trees of the Glinthewn Forest. A small child from nowhere. He somehow wandered through the Astralis Threshold of nearby Tal'Celebmea, largest elven city on the continent. A guard patrol brought him to the Arcana Mythas, the highest arcanists who maintain the Threshold. Unable to discern the elven child's origins, his parentage and place of birth unknown, he was taken in by Scion Ansal Velosar.
Despite being raised by the greatest arcane minds of elvenkind, even his chronically rebellious sister a master of necromancy, Corentin felt no affinity towards the practice of magic. Instead, he took up the art of blacksmithing. He poured his heart and soul into every worked piece, from a decorated captain's breastplate to a bulk order of iron nails made for carpentry. No one job was any more important than another.
While on a return trip with raw materials from nearby Shaledeep, a Dwarven stronghold, Corentin heard an unusual baying cry while passing through the Glinthewn Forest. Following the sound, deep amongst the Silverbark trees, he came across a small puppy. It's pure white fur was matted and filthy, and it appeared to have wounds at both ears, the fur stained red. He took in the abandoned puppy, and after a thorough bath he discovered that the ears were not stained with blood, but simply bore crimson red fur. He named the puppy Faolan, and soon began regularly exploring the wild forests with the hunting hound at his side.
He discovered a love of nature, a place that existed beyond and in stark contrast to his forge. The primal energies of the wilds came much more naturally to Corentin, unlike the arcane practices of his adoptive family. It began to shape his work as a blacksmith, the shape and style of each item reflecting forms of nature. Eventually, he discovered a method of working primal energy into his craft. He would create blades that sprouted vines and thorns where they sliced, armor that warded away unnatural beings. Eventually, he developed methods to work with non-traditional materials: glass, bone, ice, gold, wood, coral, quicksilver.
When an expedition to establish a settlement across the ocean called for skilled tradesmen, Corentin leapt at the opportunity to establish a strong name for his craft, and the chance to explore the vast, previously unknown frontiers.
