Half-Elf / Cleric

Submitted character story
You're the cleric who talked their way out of death and into divinity, who trusted the Silver Tongue even when the King's Road ran out. What brought you back wasn't redemption but obsession, a stranger's heresy becoming your gospel in the sand. You worship what you cannot confirm, chasing a pact with a god who may have already claimed you. Every table needs someone willing to stake their soul on an answer no temple will give.
Defining moment: He picked up skills in deception and persuasion by spending most of his days in pubs and saloons; really any bar inhabited by patrons with money to attempt to win. Though experienced in winning games and bets, and using his wits and less than honorable means of turning the the tide of these gambits in his favor, he had a streak of bad luck and racked up quite the debt with the wrong gang and had to go on the run, with his only escape being through the vast and treacherous desert.
Once the town started to become a distant memory as he trekked through that unforgiving landscape, his body slowly started to give out and his will to continue faded until he laid defenseless upon the sand, under the unrelenting heat of the sun.
In the sky, seeming to emerge from the gleaming light of the sun, Cobalt saw the silhouette of a massive bird creature circling above him. And he realized that it was the legendary Roc that he had only heard whispers of in the bars back home; well, what used to be home.
It circled closer and closer while a storm rolled in (in hindsight, much faster than what is natural) but as the bird swooped down to attack our exiled gambler, it was struck down by a spear from the heavens, glowing with a ghastly purple electric energy.
Cobalt's vision faded as he glimpsed the shape of a rugged old man standing over him.
He then fell into a deep sleep where he witnessed the ominous silhouette of a massive 5 headed creature, but as one of the creatures heads struck out at him, he awoke. He sat up in bed in a tattered tent where the old man sat just outside, stoking a fire in the night, and he saw a strange symbol of 3 lightning bolts inked into the man's arm. The elder explained to Cobalt that what saved him was the god Talos and that he was once a cleric of talos until he too began a journey of exile, but for his controversial views on the faith that were deemed heresy.
When Cobalt told the man about his strange dream, and asked what it had to do with Talos, he was given no solid answers, but the man said if Talos saved him from the mighty Roc with that spear, and gave him the vision of that beast, then Talos must have great plans for him, and that he should seek out a temple of Talos for the answers he needs.
After learning he was saved by Talos, Cobalt starts to obsess over the god and worships him as a cleric, but without prior knowledge of religion or a temple community to teach him, all his knowledge came from this man that may or may not have been the best source of this divine knowlege. He decided that wasn't enough and makes his goal is to form a warlock pact with talos to commune with him directly.
He now weilds the spear that presumably came from Talos, and a light bluish purple lightning magic that emanates from hands and eyes.
