Captain Ryshina Laurenne

Air Genasi / Ranger

Submitted character story

You are the ranger who chose the Blackfen and faced the Iron Matron as the Bold Hero would. Your defining moment was inheriting command when both parents vanished, marked by prophecy and tragedy alike. But every crew you save reminds you of the one family you couldn't keep whole. They'll remember you as the captain who never stopped reaching for drowning hands.

Defining moment: To understand Captain Ryshina Laurenne, one must first look to her parents: Nicolas, an aasimar pirate and vigilante, and Amida, a djinn who was gifted a prophetic dragonmark by a golden dragon before being enslaved in a talisman by the sorcerer Kaludur. After years of servitude, Amida was accidentally freed by Nicolas during a heist; she joined his crew, and their deep, fated bond eventually led to Ryshina’s birth. Raised as an air genasi aboard The Lionheart, Ryshina learned the ways of both the sea and the fight against tyranny. However, tragedy struck shortly before her 25th birthday when Kaludur returned, seemingly killing Amida and triggering a dormant, powerful aberrant dragonmark within Ryshina. With her mother gone and her father disappearing into a vengeful pursuit of the sorcerer, Ryshina took command of the ship. Now a seasoned captain with a fearsome reputation and a loyal crew of outcasts, she continues her family's legacy of fighting corruption, currently setting her sights on the growing darkness in Neverwinter.
