Broken is every moment something snapped, something shifted. He is every breaking witnessed and unseen. The horrible shatterings that ruined both you and your friends. The quiet heartbreaks that ruined you. He is every shattered moment, every sharp memory, and he is also every single time you got back up. Every time you pushed forward, every time you gathered what was left, and built something new.

When Eldest's mind shattered, broken was wandering memory again, trying to find the other places he could mend. Feeling the bonds with his brothers and sisters grow faint, he thought he had just dove to deep again. When he exited and found them going completely hollow, he realized something else was wrong. Pulling the pendant from around his neck, he watched the grey mists inside shift and twirl, before settling into a compass rose. He couldn't remember what it would lead him too, but he knew that's where he had to start. Something had broken, and it was time for him to pick up the pieces.
