"story": "You're the rogue who chose the shadow's path through the Blackfen, investigating truths others fear to name. What brought you back wasn't forgiveness but Rose's face, the hope she still draws breath somewhere beyond reach. Every carved hilt on your daggers remembers a culture the orcs tried to erase, and screams you can't unhear. Your table will know you as the halfling who survived what survival should never have cost.\n\nDefining moment: Brem tells the party he is from the farmlands, a farming community, it was beautiful. This is a lie. Brem was born to a father and mother who were part of the enslaved halfling community that worked the lands as slaves. Working for the orc warlords who burned down everything the halflings owned, slaughtering those who fought or disobeyed. As he grew older, a fire of hatred and resistance against the “green skins” bloomed inside of him. His father dying by the hands of the orc chief for disobedience and his mother passing from being worked too hard in the fields. One night, Brem and his first true love, Rose, planned to set fire the chief’s hall. On the cold, fog filled night, their plan went off without a hitch…the chief being burned alive inside. Little did they know, the orcs would begin to slaughter all the slaves. Their revolt, lead some to escape, but some to die. In the disarray, as the escaped Brem and Rose got split up. He has not seen her since but for the sake of his life, he had to keep moving, and still does. Yet, he thinks of her as he falls asleep every night. Hoping to see her again, hoping she is alive. Dreaming of her warm, before slipping into the nightmares of that fire and the screams of the deaths he caused. \n\nAlready paid the price"
