"story": "When Bellamy was only 14 years old, she remembered going out into the woods to collect the herbs her\nmother and two elder sisters needed for their magic. Heading towards the river where lichen grew best on the\ntrees near the banks, Bellamy found herself enjoying the sounds of the forest surrounding her. There was\nnothing but her and nature. In another life, she wondered if she might have been a druid. Not far off from\nthe shadows of the trees, standing in the middle of the calm but fast river,r stood a large horse whose coat was\nbright and white. The eyes are a stunning, rich brown. Bellamy was fascinated by it as the horse slowly made its\nway closer to the shore. When it finally reached the banks, it came straight for her. At first,t her heart picked\nup, and she wondered if it was angry. But as it lay itself down, Bellamy realized what it was offering. She\ngrinned and stepped up to the steed and climbed onto its back. It stood up quickly after, prancing around with\na giggling Bellamy. It turned towards the river and began trotting into the water, splashing a clueless Bellamy.\nAs the horse went in further, the playful nature waned. The trotting stopped once they reached the center of the\nriver. Bellamy had never been this far into the river for fear of being carried away. Her mother had always\nwarned her to stay away. But sitting here on the horse's back, she saw nothing wrong. What was so wrong with\na little bit of water that didn't even touch the top flank of this magnificent horse? Then she felt it. It didn't\nregister at first when it touched her own hoofed foot. But then it reached her ankles. Then her calves. And\nher thighs...Bellamy looked down, confused. Had the horse lain in the river? When her eyes caught sight of the\nhorse, she saw it. The horse was no longer white. Instead, it was deep green. Its wonderful white mane was\nnow a cluster of kelp-like seaweed. When it turned to look at her, feeling her sudden stillness, Bellamy saw the\nsharp teeth that came from its suddenly too wide mouth. And the beautiful brown eyes from before were\nreplaced with a strange milky color that glared at her. It was a kelpie that now had her. But just before the\nthought could fully form, she was being dragged under the water. Her screams barely made it from her lips\nbefore she was swallowing water. Bellamy tried to let go, but it felt like the seaweed-like hair was holding her\nthere. She screamed into the current, her cries falling upon uncaring ears. The gorgeous horse from before\nis long gone. She screamed again and again as she was dragged to the bottom of the river, the dark water\nseeming to get darker. Her lungs burned, and her head felt like the pressure was going to crush her. Just as she\nbegan to pass out,t something like a hiss shot through the water and into the Kelpie's skull. The\ncolor red surrounded her, and her hair let go. She felt an angry hand grab her and begin to pull her back\ntowards the surface. The local Sea Hag that lived not too far from here tossed Bellamy's limp body at the feet\nof the other hags, who all glared down at her in annoyance. The last thing she remembered before falling into\nthe blackness was her mother turning away and commanding her sisters to pick her up and carry her home. \nIt was this moment that made her wonder if her family thought her weak. She got her answer a year later, after\nreturning from a more successful herb run in the form of her two elder sisters, Beatrix and Bianca, conspiring\nto kill her so they would once again have all of their mother's attention. With a Hagborn like Bellamy around, their mother, Auntie Bertha Bonewick, needed to focus on making the least of her coven more powerful or be\nseen as a weak in the hierarchy of Hags across Faerûn. And with the Bonewick Coven so close to reaching\ntheir goal of ranking up, they couldn't risk Bellamy living to let them down. Though none of this was a\nsurprise, what was a surprise to Bellamy was her desire to live. She knew when they would strike. The full\nmoon was two nights away. She had only a night to decide. The night before the full moon, Bellamy snuck into\nher mother's hut and stole the Broom of Flying, which she only used for special occasions such as hunting or\nspreading fear amongst the nearby towns. With only that and a sling she had made from scraps of leather, she\nleft and made her way towards Neverwinter so she may see another day."
