Submitted character story
You are the hunter who chose the King's Road and learned patience through strategy, not spectacle. What dragged you back from death left scars deeper than flesh, a bargain that remade you. The voices of the dead cling to you now, and some nights you cannot tell their screams from your brother's. You will be remembered as the one who turned grief into a weapon sharp enough to carve through darkness itself.
Defining moment: Astryn remembers dying.
It wasn’t peaceful. It wasn’t quiet. It was a massacre. Her home, nestled deep within the shadow of an ancient forest, was overrun by otherworldly creature during a moonless night—monstrosities with hollow eyes and jagged teeth. She tried to fight. She failed. Her last sight was of her younger sibling being dragged into the dark, screaming.
But death didn’t keep her.
She woke up days later. Her heart cold but still beating. She was different—sharper, stranger, touched by something beyond mortal understanding. Her soul had slipped through the veil and returned not as the elf she once was but as something else entirely: an eladrin, reborn in a body that shifts with the seasons. She doesn’t know this. Not yet. She only knows she feels... off. Wrong. Disconnected from what she once was.
Something had clawed her back from the brink—something ancient and hungry. A whisper in the dark offered her strength in exchange for memory. Power in exchange for peace. She said yes.
The creature didn’t lie. Now, shadows answer her call. Specters cling to her like flies to a corpse—voices of the dead speak to her, sometimes with warnings, sometimes with nothing but screams. She’s learned to listen to these voices. Learned to wield them. Her movements are ghostlike—calculated, silent, and deadly—like a blade gliding through the fog. The darkness bends to her will, pulsing with cruel and unnatural magic, cold as the grave. And buried deep within her, beneath the sorrow and steel, something burns—a vow made in blood and silence. It fuels her every step, every strike, every breath. Vengeance is her only faith now. Her blade, her only prayer.
She became a hunter of horrors—of those that go bump in the night and leave blood trails behind. She doesn’t wear gleaming armor or speak lofty vows. She dances with death, manipulating shadows and spirits while cleaving through enemies with calculated, emotionless brutality. Yet the ghost of her sibling haunts her dreams—always just out of reach, always screaming.
She knows Haxtan is responsible for her brothers lycanthropy becoming corrupted and when she finds him the shadows will feast.
