Apis was born Apeiros Isladren, an eladren princess in the Fey Wild.  She was the keeper of the Mask of Awakening, but was dupe by the nefarious pirate, Marlo, and his plane-jumping henchmen.  The Fairy Queen in her anger (wisdom), cursed (transformed) Apeiros with the body of a beast and banished (transported) her to the world of Eberron where Marlo was known to call home.  In her anger of being cursed and stranded, she cried out to anyone that would listen to give her the strength to kill Marlo, regain the Mask, and return to her original form.  One of the Dark Six, The Fury, heard her cry and agreed to make her mighty if she would become the physical embodiment of The Fury's rage.  The pact was made and The Fury gained her champion.  Apeiros Isladren was now Apis...The Fury's First Rage.

Believing her to be a minotaur (albeit a smallish one), Apis was adopted by an orc tribe that guards the town of Cliffside.  There she rose in the ranks of the townguard until events conspired for her to join an adventuring group, the Defenders of Cliffside.  After many adventures, she came across rumors of Marlo's whereabouts and sought him out.  By chance she wandered into a tavern they were acquainting and murdered them all.  She subsequently defeated their "awakened" ship (with the use of the Mask), and regained possession of it.  However, before she could return to the Fairy Queen, a sahuagin invasion approached Cliffside.  The Defenders defeated the invasion, but were going to drown.  Apis called to The Fury to save them, and the The Fury answered...teleporting all the Defenders to dry ground.  At this point, Apis decided she owed The Fury longer service...and truth be told, she was finally comfortable in her new form.  The Mask of Awakening was returned to the Fairy Queen, but without its guardian.
