Submitted character story
You are a hero who chose the Blackfen's quiet patience and the Shadow Investigator's watchful restraint. What you remembered wasn't the dragon's power but the stranger's hunger, the choice to sit beside fear instead of striking it. The cost is invisible: you carry every wounded thing you couldn't save, every stranger who turned away your hand. Tables will remember you as the one who made mercy look like strength.
Defining moment: One night Amaya followed moon wisps into an ancient valley where she discovered what she believed to be a wounded drow traveler resting beside a shimmering lake. His clothes were torn, his skin marked by old scars, and his crimson eyes carried the weariness of someone who had wandered alone for far too long. Many would have passed him by. Some would have feared him. Amaya did neither, rather she offered him food, warmth, and a place beside her fire.
The stranger asked for a song, and she sang it, like a moonlit siren singing to the stars. When he asked why she traveled along, she answers honestly. As hours pass, neither would speak of magic or destiny. As the dawn approached, the traveler rose and walked over into the beautiful lake under the dawn as the water ripples and erupted into a silver light and an ancient dragon unfolded from the mist.
Before the dragon would leave her, he would say to her, "The world has enough heroes to slay monsters. It has far fewer willing to sit beside one and ask if it is hungry."
The ancient dragon lowered his great silver head.
"The sun burns brightly for those who walk in daylight. Be the moon instead, young maiden. Be the softer light that guides those lost in darkness."
"Not every creature needs a sword. Some need a hand."
That memory becomes her compass, it was a simple act of kindness to remind herself the world is balanced and even those in darkness and troubled times need a person there with them too.
Can't stop helping strangers
