Origin
Professor Adrex began his life as a scholar, part of the free upper caste of Draconia, a deeply classist and rigid society. Those with tails lived as scholars and kings, those who did not worked. Adrex believed in the slaving ways of people until he was in a caravan ambushed by Drow and had to flee into the wilds. It was not one nobleman who saved him but a tailless dragonborn, Carus, a supposedly evil brute. After weeks of traveling the wilderness the two finally reached Draconian civilization. Instead of being rewarded for the noble deed, Carus was slain for "kid napping" his better, while Adrex silenced on the truth of matter. His faith in his people broken, he started a slave revolt but instead following through he fled to Tal'dorei. Forsaking his home, his inheritance form of a manor and blade, and everyone he cared for.
Career
Adrex first met up with his adventuring party in the City of Emon in which they were contracted to battle against a hive of "blight elves." They were like large blights that were made by the abuse of fey druidic power. They commanded the power of massive insects like wasps and beetles. He proved his magical prowess in Chronurgy Magic which allowed him to temper his more volatile magic by interfering with the timeline to shift fate in his favor. He was able to gain insight from academics like Titan Snake. He was an awkward and skittish reptile always suggesting the cautious route. His companions including Pali, the grim elven servant of the Raven Queen, The cunning and "Guiltless" halfling rogue Gregor, the gender-swapped, dragonphobic Orc Fighter Rowena Iron tooth, Glimex, the wealthy Dwarf fighter, , and the ever watchful Forge Cleric Sothmeyer were most likely to ignore him. They traveled in the depths to plunder the ruins of Crin dark elves after their victory with blight elves. After that the party defeated a “fire god”(elemental) who was worshipped by a tribe of Goblins. Finally they retreat to Emon where strange dreams bade them travel to Fort Daxio. Gimlex lent Adrex a magic ring for protection. Their travels were interrupted by Goliath raiders whose loot alerted the party to nearby pirates. Much to Adrex's dismay, who have preferred to just follow the dreams, the party went hunting and found a pirate cove. Adrex helps scout it out and after a lethal misunderstanding with orc pirates the party gets inside and meets the cruel pirate wizard, Rex. Adrex would briefly apprentice under him and learn little necromancy. The party would briefly work to try and fine treasure out in the Lucian Ocean. After a storm wrecked the boat into an island, the party turned on Rex and killed him. They party then explored a sea god’s temple at the behest of Mud Merphit that only Adrex could speak to. The power of Adrex’s pulse wave was key to blasting open on temple defenses in the form of a tentacle door. The door attacked back but Adrex stood firm not backing down and a second blast rend the door open. After getting their prize, Adrex tried to again negotiate with the merphit only for violence to break out, Adrex was nearly buried alive due to trying to use some of Rex's short range necromancy. Out of options, they courted favor with the merfolk king. He helped them return to the mainland on the back of whale.
Fall.
He would meet his end at the fateful Fort Daxio. It started with a visit a shrine of The Platinum Dragon, whose priest delivered a terrible prophecy. “Your destiny lies here in Fort Daxio. A great darkness lies over your companions, one will die very soon … very, very soon.” (taken from Rowena’s journal.)
The fell omens continued on a shopping trip where by a miraculous chance Adrex found his family's blade on one of the shelves. It forced him to recount his origin to Pali and realize that he spent his entire life either running from his problems or letting other people protect him from them. He tried running from his issues, and decided he would never flee from them again. It was a poor vow to make as a mage.
That night as the party slept an alarm went off. Gnolls under the service of a warlock raided the village, killing defenders and citizens alike. Most of the party wanted to get their armor on first, but Adrex and Gregor, being Wizard and Rogue, could afford to respond immediately to the issue. So despite the pleas of their companions, they waded into the slaughter. Gregor and Adrex fought well for many rounds giving citizens the few previous seconds they needed to get to safety, but without a front-liner Adrex's and Gregor's defenses were shredded through. Gregor, being a rogue, could slip from the battle but Adrex could not, would not, run again. Surrounded by biting beasts with their sharp blades he gave almost every bit of magic he could to fighting them off. Finally a strike came flying at his head (the gnoll rolled a 17, an almost certainly fatal hit,) and Adrex used the last of his Chronurgy magic to try to redirect the blow. It instead became a critical hit and struck the wizard down. His champions found him dead after the battle. They built a cairn to honor him and set out to avenge him
