"story": "Abeto was a centaur cleric of Mielikki who left his forest in search of adventure, and to preach his faith and share it with the world. He was always straightforward with everyone—simple and honest. He wasn’t the brightest bulb, but he was certainly one of the most dependable.\n\nHe gave his life to save his companions from the enemy generals, but a powerful extraplanar necromancer in the service of a crow-like deity of death offered to bring him back in exchange for his devotion to that god. It was a bargain Abeto would never accept, so instead he offered his body. In doing so, he became a gigantic plant golem.\n\nThey continued their adventures. Abeto consecrated heretical or abandoned temples to Mielikki, officiated weddings in her name, and took part in many more journeys. But his end came when he fell at the hands of an avatar of one of the Trickster Gods, Nangnang, who had fallen under the control of a vampire serving an archlich. With the party split, the companions who were with him tried to help, but in the end, Abeto died.\n\nIn death, the trickster god of warriors offered to bring him back in exchange for his body and his faith. Once again, Abeto refused, and this time he turned to Mielikki for aid. She gave him a way out, a seed for something that Abeto had, in truth, always carried within himself.\n\nWith a radiant glow, just as his companions were losing all hope, Abeto placed his hands on his chest and began to grow. Today, where the temple of Nangnang once stood, Abeto rises in the form of a colossal fir tree hundreds of feet tall, visible from nearly anywhere in Chult. The putrid swamp that once lay there has been transformed into the greatest sanctuary of healing in that untamed jungle."
